WHO IS BEN PHOTOGRAPHY

I think this is the fifth time I’ve started writing this, you won’t believe how hard it is to write about yourself. I have a deep love for photography. It’s one of the things that I enjoy doing more than anything else. I enjoy capturing the moment that tells you exactly what’s going on or the landscape that lets you remember exactly how you felt when you were looking at it. For me, the challenge is to always create something that I would be happy to hang on my own wall or see printed in a magazine with my name next to it.
I am a professional wedding photographer based in Cornwall specialising in a contemporary / reportage style wedding photography mix. So what does that mean? Although I have worked in many areas of photography, I specialise in wedding photography, and my style is one of documenting the day in a modern way.
In the past I have worked as the manager for a professional photographic studio and lab in Cape Town. This exposed me to a broad spectrum of photographic work, as well as giving me an opportunity to work side by side with veteran photographers who have spent their whole life working.
I feel very fortunate to be able to work as a professional wedding photographer in Cornwall, I believe that it is one of the most picturesque counties in England. I have been very fortunate to work as a full time wedding photographer since moving to the UK in 2005. And have in this time been lucky enough to be the wedding photographer for many local and out of county couples. I have had my work as a wedding photographer featured several times in both printed and online publications such as Brides in Cornwall. I’m currently the wedding photographer of choice for the Lsndhydrock, a recommended wedding photographer for Greenbank Hotel.
It also gave me the chance to get to know the latest digital technology from digital cameras to the top of the line digital printing machines. I switched to digital in November 04 and this has freed me to become more creative as I feel that I no longer have restrictions on film or worrying about development cost. I also believe that digital has reached a stage where it is as good as, if not better in some cases than film.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about my photography, if you want to argue the merits of film over digital, or even if you just want to know the name of a couple of good restaurants in Cape Town.
God makes the pictures, I just take them – Ed H. Urghardt
